EDIT: The store at this location has now closed, however, Sun Levain bakeries can still be found throughout Japan. Google "Sun Levain" for locations, or check out our recommended bakeries below.
A few years ago Sun Levain used to be one of those stores I'd pop into for a quick snack between jobs. Since leaving my previous work places and now changing through a different set of stations, my Sun Levain sightings became much less frequent until I spotted a store at Namba Skyo a while back.
As far as the bread at Sun Levain is concerned, I'd definitely recommend the fish and egg sandwich, and the cranberry golden raisin bread. The salted butter France (is this the correct name in English?) wasn't bad, although I prefer the one at Pompadour. Unfortunately the croissant wasn't really to my taste, as it was a little dry and just generally not really how a croissant should be. BUT I'm extremely fussy with croissants so maybe don't take my word for it!
If you're staying in the area around this bakery I'd suggest stopping by for a quick and relatively cheap breakfast at this no fuss cafe, or picking something up here to take back to your accommodation. Of course, being a cafe, they also sell drinks including the interesting siphon coffee.
On this day I visited the store on the second floor of the Skyo Building, connected to Namba Parks and Namba Nankai station, but if you Google the store name you may be able to find a location closer to you. Eat-in or take-out is available at this location.

The raisin bread looks amazing! The fish also looks so good... and I don't even eat fish. Thanks for sharing this carby gem :)
I love your blog so much, your posts always make me drool! Thank you so much for sharing this :)
wow, your posts always make me hungry! The fish sandwich looks absolutely amazing. A good croissant is everything and when you get spoiled to a good one it's hard to go back.
Looks like a carb-lovers delight.
Nice! I’m also very fussy with croissant but I like to try them all. even if they’re not perfect, they’re rarely bad!
